Hindu Mandir of Kingston - President's Message

Dear Community Members,

It gives me great pleasure to write this first letter to our Hindu community on behalf of the Board of Directors and as the President of “HINDU MANDIR OF KINGSTON (HMK)”.

Our two year long effort to amalgamate ‘Geetanjali Cultural Centre of Kingston’ and ‘Kingston Sanatan Culture Centre’ officially came to fruition earlier this year on 23 April with CRA issuing “Hindu Mandir of Kingston” status of registered charitable organization.

This is a significant milestone. Now that officially the two groups are together we are able to leverage our strengths as a single organization. Moving forward we will be operating only as “Hindu Mandir of Kingston”. However there is a transition period involved before we operate strictly as HMK. As we transition, for the next couple of months you will see Geetanjali cultural temple of Kingston and Kingston Sanatan cultural centre names used for various different puja events. We ask for your patience.

We will roll out a new Facebook page and WhatsApp group. Our new email is

hindumandirkingston@gmail.com

We have also rolled out our following website:

www.hindumandirkingston.com

The plan is to combine the members of both organizations into one WhatsApp group and also include everyone on one distribution list for email purposes. Moving forward our website, facebook and whatsapp will be our main mode of communication with the community. We will be putting the latest updates about the mandir project and the upcoming events on the website. People who are interested in volunteering for mandir events will be able to register via the website.

We are also in the process of setting up the website so that donations can be made electronically through our website donation page. In the meantime, donations can still be made by cash or cheque in the name of Hindu Mandir of Kingston, and we will issue charitable tax receipts under the new name.

Also to share with you that we are diligently and relentlessly working on our Mandir project. Unfortunately city permit is a major roadblock we are facing right now but hopefully we can move forward soon. Hope to share some good news with the community soon 🙏🏻.

Ashok Acharya

President

Hindu Mandir of Kingston

Dear All,

We are so pleased to receive excellent feedback on Mata Ki Chowki event, which truly radiated a powerful spiritual energy. What stood out the most was the heartfelt participation of the younger generation who was singing bhajans and clapping with complete devotion. It was incredibly uplifting to witness our traditions being preserved and celebrated so beautifully by the new generation. The Executive Committee of Geetanjali Cultural Temple is so grateful to Mrs. Ranjana and Dr. Prakash Darbar & family for hosting this mesmerizing event.

The Committee is so thankful to Pandit Vijay Sharma, Mrs. Ashu Sharma, Vidhi Sharma, and Aditya for coming to Kingston to perform Mata Ki Chowki. The soulful singing by Pandit ji and Vidhi Sharma created a truly spiritual atmosphere, and Aditya did a wonderful job on the dholak.

We are also grateful to all the volunteers, especially Aparna Kapoor, Sanjeev Kapoor, Kartik, Meeta Bhatt, Akshaj Darbar, Shreeya Darbar, Love Preet, Kiran Preet, Mukesh Patel, Hitesh Patel, Mayur Vadher, Nilesh Patel, Hitesh Patel (Walmart), Deepak Kumar, Aditi Kumar, Sat Chaudhary, Vinod Vohra, Vijay and Gulshan Babbar for setting up the venue and helping with housekeeping at the end of the event. Sincere thanks are also due to Hardeep from Lala Masala for the preparing the delicious food and staying till the end to ensure everything went smoothly.

Last but not the least, we are thankful to all those who made donations to the Geetanjali Temple. New donations can be made at Bayridge Grocery by cash, cheque or e-transfer. Please send e-transfers at: geetanjaliculturaltemple@gmail.com

Thank you!
