Happy Hindu Heritage Month 2025!
As you know, the federal government and the Ontario government have proclaimed the month of November as the Hindu Heritage Month in Canada, to recognize the richness of Hindu culture and to celebrate the contributions of the Hindu community and the impact of its citizens in areas like politics, business, and arts & culture. GCTK expresses its gratitude to both the federal and provincial governments for this kind gesture!
Since most of the Hindu festivals follow the Hindu lunar year which is shorter than the solar Gregorian calendar, many of our festivals fall on different dates annually. As a result, we celebrated Diwali and a few other important events this year in October instead of November. We are, however, looking forward to celebrating November as the Hindu Heritage Month and have planned a couple of events. We are pleased to share a summary of some of our main events held recently in Sep-Oct and the forthcoming November events to celebrate the Hindu Heritage Month. A few photographs are also included at the end of this document. As our community building is under construction, most of the events are held at St. Andrew's By the Lake United Church, 1 Redden St., Kingston, ON K7M 4K7.
